Located in close proximity to India, this pristine island will not only make your wedding a memorable one but is also logistically feasible. Depending on your budget, you can choose a resort in Sri Lanka to host your wedding. Many of these resorts offer customized wedding packages to meet your need and suit your pocket. So whether you prefer to take your marital vow on a hot air balloon ride drifting through the forests or exchange your rings on the pristine Sri Lanka beaches, you will be spoilt with choices in these wedding destinations in Sri Lanka.

Also, you need to carry your original birth certificate, passport and an affidavit confirming the marital status of the couple. If one of you is widowed, then death certificate of the deceased spouse would be required. If one of you is divorced, a court decree is needed which should confirm the lawful separation of the couple. Upon completion of your wedding, you will receive a marriage certificate which would be written in Singhalese (the local language) with a certified copy written in English.

Sri Lanka practices many faiths hence you can plan an intricate Christian wedding to a simple exchange of vows at the beach with the setting sun as the backdrop. You can discuss your plans with your wedding planner to tailor fit your needs. A private wedding ceremony followed by a honeymoon package in one of the luxury resorts in Sri Lanka is quite popular.
